The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science of the Department of Nursing Science, Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, was approved for establishment by the Senate of Elizade University at its 31st Statutory Meeting held on the May 30, 2018. The Department of Nursing Science of Elizade University prepares students to acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, restoration of health and alleviation of suffering as well as the development of research attitude in students. The B.N.Sc. degree programme is designed to produce polyvalent Nursing practitioners and researchers who are capable of providing effective health care within the health care delivery system of the nation.

Nurses and their contributions are vital components of any reliable healthcare organisation striving for zero patient harm and quality care. Nursing, as an integral part of the health care system, encompasses the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and care of physically ill, mentally ill, and disabled people of all ages, in all health care and other community settings.
The inadequacy of skilled personnel, who can meet the challenges posed by changes in health technology and emergence of new infectious diseases in the health sector, is a major threat to the nation. Therefore, the need to increase national manpower, capacities, skills and expertise of personnel charged with the responsibilities of caring, educating and nursing in proportion to the demands of the growing population, has become imperative.

Admission to the Bachelor of Nursing Science programme shall be either through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), or Direct Entry (DE). All applicants for admission into Elizade University should have attained 16 years of age. Candidates seeking enrolment into the Nursing Science programme should possess the following minimum entry qualification(s):
The candidate should possess at least Five Credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings of ordinary level West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or its equivalent (NECO, SSCE, GCE). The students must also have performed well in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). UTME subjects must include use of English Language, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
